In 1994, after freelancing in London orchestras for 10 years, Alice wrote her first novel. WHILE THE MUSIC LASTS was bought by Orion in 1993 and published to acclaim in 1994 (hardback) and 1995 (paperback). Two years later her sequel GHOST MUSIC was published in Orion hardback and Oriel paperback.

Alice is also the author of a play, Beating Time, which was put on to some acclaim by the Lewisham Theatre in 1997. She is currently engaged in finishing her third novel, which stars a would-be soprano.

In addition to her writing, Alice continues to freelance with orchestras both modern and baroque. During her career she has performed with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique (Sir John Eliot Gardiner), the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington D.C. (Antal Dorati), the Hanover Band (baroque) and other orchestras too numerous to mention.
